General Auditions

The PCS looks for experienced choral singers with good sight-reading ability and a good working knowledge of English (the language of rehearsals). As ours is an amateur choir of professional standards, members are expected to take their participation seriously, attending all rehearsals, studying the music on their own (supporting materials will be provided), singing in each of our three concerts in the season and the Messiah Sing-Along, as well as contributing to all aspects of promotion and production of our concerts.

We are looking for good tuning, a vocal quality that will blend with the choir, ability to control vibrato and understanding of musical notation.  We also require sight-reading ability since we often tackle long works that would be particularly difficult to fully learn by heart.  Auditionees will have the chance to demonstrate their capacity to learn a part, as a section of the season’s repertoire will be sent in advance to be prepared for the audition.

Audition days typically take place twice a year, in September and January. If you would like to audition, please complete an audition registration form here. 

Auditions, rehearsals and most performances are at the American Cathedral in Paris, 23 avenue George V in the 8th arrondissement. Dues for the whole season are 230 euros (115 euros for those who are under 26 years old). They are pro rated for those joining in January.

Dues do not include the cost of scores that need to be purchased. Bulk orders are made, in order to allow for lower costs. You are welcome to purchase scores on your own but you will need to have the edition chosen by the musical director.

Rehearsals are Monday nights, from 7:30pm to 10pm, with a refreshment break for socializing.
