Zachary Ullery is a native of Maysville, Kentucky, and graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2004
Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education. In July 2008 he received dual
Masters degrees from the University of Kentucky in Choral Conducting and in Music Education. In addition,
he has completed advanced studies in the Orff-Schulwerk, a developmental approach to musical education
for children, associated with the composer Carl Orff. From 2004 to 2006, Zach was a teacher and director of
choral activities at George Rogers Clark High School in Winchester, KY. From 2001 to June 2008, he also
served as part-time assistant organist and choirmaster at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in
Lexington, KY. During his graduate studies at the University of Kentucky, Zach served as the conductor of
the University Choristers and the assistant conductor of the Chorale and Men's Chorus.
In his present position as full-time Director of Music at the American Cathedral in Paris, Zach has
responsibility for managing the Cathedral’s extensive music program, conducting the adult choir, and continuing the growth of the Cathedral’s choirs and educational programs for children and youth. The
Paris Choral Society is pleased tocontinue to work with Zach for the 2012–2013 season.
